This was a super last minute idea. I thought it would be cool to have a t-shirt to wear for the solar eclipse watch party happening August 21, 2017. I live in the area of the country where it will be a total eclipse and my work is throwing a watch party. Just hoping for clear skies.
I found the image on a royalty-free image site and downloaded a eps version of the file. It’s more of a nod to the eclipse and not a literal design. I took it to illustrator and made some minor adjustments to the design to make it work for screen printing. The plan is a black shirt with white ink. My fav.
So I ran to Michael’s craft supply store to pick-up a couple of black shirts. There were plenty in stock.
I printed out my film positive and went to work on burning the screen. I have a video<link> on how to burn your own screens if you want to learn how to diy it.
Here’s a quick video on the whole process. It was super fast, easy and a total blast!
Here are the inks I used. I just mixed a 50/50 mix of these two inks for a soft feel.

I’m now ready to be decked out for the total eclipse! Can’t wait!
